Driven by the demands of the Yangtze River Delta region, the School of Mechanical Engineering innovates the talent training mode of integration of morality, knowledge and technology to cultivate high-level application-oriented innovative technical talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor, and innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision.

The school of Mechanical Engineering has more than 90 faculty and staff members, including 12 professors and over 30 associate professors. Among the professional teachers, more than 80% have doctor's degree, and over 60% are double-qualified teachers. It has a group of provincial talents, overseas experts and part-time teachers from enterprises.

At present, the School has department of mechanical and electrical engineering, department of process machinery, department of materials forming, mechanical engineering experimental center and Shanghai municipal engineering research center.

The School has the right to confer master of science degree and master of engineering degree in mechanical engineering. It has four undergraduate majors: mechanical design& manufacturing and automation (including the Sino-foreign cooperative education program of the Ministry of Education), material forming and control engineering, process equipment and control engineering.，intelligent manufacturing engineering. Currently, 2 majors have been approved to be first-class undergraduate majors in Shanghai and recommended to apply for national first-class undergraduate majors. The school have won many provincial level teaching achievement awards of Shanghai. There are more than 1300 undergraduates and 200 graduate students in the School.

The main research directions in the School are: digital design & manufacturing and numerical control technology, intelligent machinery and robot application technology, green and efficient process equipment technology. It has characteristics and advantages in surface engineering and intelligent detection and won many Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Awards in this field. At present, it has two municipal platforms and four university-level collaborative innovation platforms. The annual scientific research fund reaches more than 10 million yuan, of which nearly 80% is enterprise project fund. It has won more than 20 provincial-level projects such as the National Natural Science Fund. There are more than 30 bases of ndustry-university-research for long-term cooperation, 8 college-enterprise joint laboratories, with a laboratory area of more than 6,000 square meters and equipment assets of more than 70 million yuan.

The school has established cooperative relations with nearly 20 universities around the world, and has carried out a number of double degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as visiting study programs, and enrolls international students.
