    The major of Material Forming and Control Engineering is an engineering profession which treat forming technology as a means, material as the processing object, the process control as quality assurance measures to achieve the purpose of manufacturing product with high quality. 

   The discipline required the basic theory of mechanical engineering for the product manufacturing with forming technology; the characteristics seeing material as the processing object determine that the materials science is a basic knowledge of the profession; and the properties of the process control as the quality assurance measures make the control theory become an important part of the basic knowledge in this subject. It includes the basic material processing theory, the shape control of materials forming, organization structure control, performance control, manufacturing process control, computer design and machining of mould (CAD/CAM), numerical simulation (CAE), and development of new materials, new product technology, etc. All of this indicates it’s a real wide caliber profession with broad scope for business and knowledge field. 

   After a long-term development of the Material Forming and Control Engineering Major, the undergraduate profession for culturing high-level technical personnel in production line is formed. The major combines the mechanical engineering with the materials engineering, which bases on the mold technology. It has the features of metal plastic forming, plastic molding process control, mould design and manufacturing. The graduate students can find the job in the automotive, home appliance, light industry, mechanical engineering and other industries engaged in the material forming, mould design and manufacturing, as well as production organization and management. Meanwhile, the students can also engage in the digestion and development of new technology and business management.
